Apparently the legendary video game Pacman is 30 years old and Google are commemorating it with a Doodle. What is remarkable about this customary logo change by Google is that this seems to be the first interactive one.

In between working yesterday on one my my projects, an idea came into my mind to be creative with my Facebook profile picture. I really just wanted to change it to something else but instead of just the same boring photo of me, I thought ‘why don’t I create an illusion of being behind the wall?’ After about 10mins in Photoshop, the results can be seen below:

I will post a Photoshop tutorial of how I did it in the near future.

As Google always does on holidays or special events, they theme the famous homepage logo with an artisitc (and usually witty) doodle. I've always found it easy to identify what event is depicted based on the picture, but today's doodle is a bit of a head scratcher. Can you make out what it is? Continue reading»

As Google traditionally does on holidays or special events, they theme their famous homepage logo with an artisitc (and usually witty) doodle. I’ve always found it easy to identify what event is depicted based on the picture, but today’s doodle is a bit of a head scratcher. Can you make out what it is?

It’s in honour of Samuel Finley Breese Morse, the inventor of the single wire telegraph, who was born on April 27, 1791. Morse code is a method of transmitting long-distance messages over electrical wires by translating alphabets into a combination of dots and dashes (hence the dashes and dots instead of the normal logo).

Apart from reminding us of special holidays we tend to easily forget, Google are also playing a part in helping us learn about important figures and events in history. Kudos to them for that and I hope they keep them coming.
